HAPPINESS AND WELL-BEING
For researchers there are two main components of happiness:
1- Experiencing more positive emotions like joy, serenity, love…
2- Having a sense that your life is good, that you are progressing in life and have meaning in life.
THE HAPPINESS PIE CHART
The genetic component of happiness is 50 % and ONLY 10 % of happiness is determined by circumstances. SO that leaves us 40 % that is under our control through intentional activity (Lyubomirsky, 2008).
To put it shortly, you can manage your level of happiness and well-being by changing the way you think and behave.
POSITIVE EMOTIONS – BROADEN AND BUILT
The more we experience positive emotions the more we have a broader perspective in life and see the big picture (Fredrickson, 2009).
Experiencing positive emotions will open you; you will be able to see more possibilities, be more resilient, be more creative and come up with better solutions.
They will create a feeling of oneness and shared humanity.
As you experience more positive emotions you will be more likely to realise the uniqueness of each individual. This is not only helpful on an individual level but also on the societal level (Fredrickson, 2009, 2013).
ART OF LIFE
Positive psychology scientifically works on the behaviors of resilient people and provides us information, to have a perspective in life and to experience more positive emotions – and that’s simply what I call; to live your life as if it’s an art. Welcome to the Art of Life!
